Mobile Sawmill Services in Kansas City Metro

Have a fallen tree, large log, or salvaged timber with more potential than firewood? Wyco Wood Co. brings professional mobile saw milling to properties across the Kansas City Metro. We help homeowners, builders, and businesses turn logs already on the ground into dimensional lumber, live-edge slabs, beams, mantels, and material for meaningful projects.

Our portable sawmills can reach many locations where moving a heavy log would be difficult. Whether you are preserving wood from a backyard tree, preparing lumber for a build, or making use of timber from a rural property, we mill to your requested specifications.

Turn Your Logs Into Useful Lumber

Mobile sawmilling lets you keep control of the wood from your own property. Instead of hauling a large log away, you can turn it into lumber with a story behind it. Learn more about turning logs into lumber and maximizing their value.

Wyco Wood Co. can mill:

●       Dimensional lumber for building and woodworking projects

●       Live-edge slabs for tables, counters, benches, and mantels

●       Beams, posts, and custom-cut timbers

●       Wide slabs from large logs

●       Lumber from fallen or salvaged trees already on the ground

Our equipment includes a TimberKing 1620 bandsaw mill and a Lucas Mill for larger slabbing projects. We can mill live-edge slabs up to 60 inches wide, depending on the log and site conditions. See examples of our slab work and oak tree-to-lumber projects.

Mobile Sawmilling for Kansas City Properties

Kansas City Metro properties can vary widely, from established neighborhood yards to acreage, farms, construction sites, and commercial properties. Our portable equipment is designed to bring the mill to the log, including locations with limited access.

Common Kansas City Metro projects include:

●       Milling a mature backyard tree into lumber for a family table, mantel, or future project

●       Turning storm-damaged or removed trees into usable lumber instead of sending them away as waste

●       Milling logs on farms, acreage, and rural properties into boards, beams, or slabs

●       Creating custom-cut lumber for builders, woodworkers, and property owners

●       Slabbing large logs for live-edge furniture or architectural pieces

We evaluate each project based on log size, species, condition, access, desired cuts, and material-handling needs. If you are deciding what to do with a damaged or fallen tree, read our guide to handling storm-felled trees on your property.

Mobile Sawmill Pricing and Estimates

Our base fee for mobile saw milling is $250. This includes travel time, mileage, setup, teardown, unloading and loading equipment, and moving the first log into position.

Bandsaw milling with our TimberKing 1620 is $150 per hour. This rate includes at least two skilled operators, a subcompact tractor for material handling, blades, and diesel fuel.

Large-log and live-edge slab projects using our Lucas Mill are quoted individually. These projects can require additional time, labor, and handling based on the size and weight of the log and slabs. For additional details, review our fees and charges.

Before scheduling, we will discuss:

●       Log dimensions and species

●       Whether the log is clean and accessible

●       Desired lumber sizes or slab dimensions

●       Site access and material-handling requirements

●       Whether the log may contain metal, rocks, or gravel

Logs with embedded steel, nails, rocks, or gravel can damage blades and chains. Additional fees may apply when foreign material is encountered.

What We Do and Do Not Do

Wyco Wood Co. mills logs that are already on the ground. We are not a tree-removal company and do not cut down standing trees or remove branches and limbs.

If you have a log ready for milling, we can help determine whether it is suitable for the project you have in mind. We can also discuss the best way to cut it for dimensional lumber, live-edge slabs, or another use. For larger material that needs to be moved before milling, learn about our large log removal service.

Make More of the Wood You Already Have

A tree can hold years of memories. Milling it into useful lumber gives it a new purpose, whether that means building something for your home, saving material for a future project, or creating a one-of-a-kind live-edge piece.

Once your lumber is milled, kiln drying can help prepare it for woodworking and interior use. You can also explore our lumber sales if your project requires additional material.
