Cedar posts and beams in Kansas City

Our cedar posts and beams run from 4x4 up to 10x10, all at $3.25 per board foot. Here's what common 8 ft sizes come out to:

Cedar boards, shelves, T&G and shiplap

• 1X and 2X boards, shelves and closet lining: $4 per board foot

• Tongue-and-groove (T&G) and shiplap: $6 per board foot ($3 per linear foot for 1x6)

Eastern red cedar has that rich red-and-cream color and the classic cedar smell people love in closets, saunas, wall paneling and trim.

Sold green and air-dried

Our cedar is sold green and air-dried. It is not kiln-dried. That keeps the price down and the color and aroma strong. Green cedar will shrink a little as it dries, so let it acclimate before fine finish work, and leave small gaps in fences and siding.

8 ft lengths

All of our cedar is cut to a maximum length of 8 ft. That covers most fence, post, shelf and paneling jobs, and it fits in the bed of most pickups.

Orders are ready in 7 to 10 days. Bigger orders, like a full fence or a pergola package, are no problem. Give us a little notice so we can mill and stack everything for you.

Caring for eastern red cedar

Eastern red cedar naturally resists rot and insects, which is why it's been used for fence posts on Midwest farms for generations. You can leave it bare to weather to silver gray, or use a penetrating oil or stain to keep the red color longer. Indoors, a light sanding brings the cedar smell right back.
