We're a small, veteran-owned sawmill in Kansas City, KS, and we offer custom log milling two ways: we bring our portable sawmill to your property, or you drop your logs off at our mill.

Option 1: Mobile milling at your property

Our portable TimberKing 1620 bandsaw mill comes to you. We set up near your logs and cut them into boards, beams or slabs right on site, so there's no need to haul heavy logs anywhere. It's a good fit for:

• Storm-downed or removed trees on your land

• Farms and acreages with several logs

• Homeowners who want lumber from a tree that meant something to them

Option 2: Log drop-off at our mill

If you can haul your logs, you can drop them off at our Kansas City mill by appointment. We'll mill them to your cut list and let you know when your lumber is ready for pickup. Call us first so we can plan the time and talk about your logs.

Lumber is cut up to 8 ft long, which is our maximum length. Longer logs are cut to length before milling.

How custom milling works

• Call or email with photos of your logs, their rough length and diameter, and where they are.

• We talk through what you'd like cut, like boards, beams, slabs or siding, and give you a quote.

• We set a date to bring the mill to you, or a drop-off time at our mill.

• We mill your logs and stack the lumber so you can start drying it.

Tips before we mill

Logs are best milled soon after the tree comes down, before rot or bugs set in. Keep logs off the ground if you can, and let us know about any nails, wire or fence staples. Trees from yards and fence lines often hide metal that can damage a saw blade. Clear, level ground near the logs makes mobile milling faster for you.

Is the lumber dry when you're done?

No. Freshly milled lumber is green. It needs to air-dry before most furniture or finish work. We also offer kiln drying when there's enough lumber to run a full load; call 816-244-5505 to check timing. Our own eastern red cedar lumber, pickets and slabs are sold green (air-dried), not kiln-dried.
